MOVEMENT

Move with the times?
Ifve done that all right:
In a few years
Buried a nation.
Words for the sweet tooth
Have gone sour.
Looking at them now,
None of those farms
In the high hills
Have bred children.
My poems were of old men;
The chimney corner
Is a poor place to sing
Reedy accompaniment
To the wheels' rattle,
As life puts on speed.
